B(h)era (November 2014)

BheraRehearsal2

„Um das Verborgene geht es. Wie bei einer Geburt ist es vorsichtig und immer wieder aufs Neue zur Welt zu bringen. Geburt hängt etymologisch mit dem Berg zusammen und leitet sich von b(h)era ab, was bringen, tragen, aushalten, sich regen, bewegen und erheben bedeutet.“

—Helga Peskoller, Extrem

B(h)era is a Sanskrit word, which means “a place where there is no fear”. It is also the etymological root of the words birth and mountain. Cinira Macedo, Claudia Tomasi and I developed a dance piece with the title B(h)era, which is especially for small children.

It is a twenty minutes piece for two bodies who share time and space in the pathway of a circle in a constant oscillation between the horizontal and the vertical. At the end of the performance the two dancers invite all the small and big visitors to join their journey in the circle.

B(h)era has been performed in two different venues in Germany:

April 2013 INZUCHT Festival, Uferstudios, Berlin/Germany

November 2014 Tanzhaus NRW, Düsseldorf/Germany

Choreography, Concept, Creation, Performance: Cinira Macedo, Claudia Tomasi and Laura Unger

Music: Elena Kakaliagu
